The avian population includes Jungle Fowl, Laughing Thrush, Black Bulbul, Peafowl, Woodpecker, etc. The supreme period to visit the sanctuary is December - April. The nearest railway station is the Kottayam which is just 135 km away from the Sanctuary.

Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary also known as Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the in the Western Ghats spreading over an area of 675 sqkm. This striking wildlife sanctuary attracts wildlife lovers, tourists and nature lovers all the year round. In this wildlife sanctuary there are around 35 species of mammals, 265 species of birds and 1800 flowering plants. Tigers, elephant, gaurs, cobra, sambar, langur, viper, darter, etc can be easily spotted in this wildlife sanctuary. The ideal period to visit this sanctuary is from November to April. The nearest railway is Kottayam which is 120 km away from the sanctuary.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is the part of the Wayanad Plateau. It is the home to varied wild animals like tiger, leopards, elephant, wild dog, bear and bison. It is the integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. It is the perfect place to see the majestic tigers taking guard of their kingdom. Cuckoos, Peacock, Wood Pecker, Jungle Fowl, etc are commonly spotted avifauna family in the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The park is open all the year round but the ideal time to visit the sanctuary is June to October. Kazhikode is the nearest railway station which is 130 km away from the sanctuary. T

Located in the Eranakulam district on the northern bank of the Periyar River, Thattekkad Wildlife Sanctuary is home to 500 species of exotic birds. The thick evergreen cover of the sanctuary is heaven for these winged creatures. Night Heron, Sunbird, Jungle Fowl, Hornbill, Ceylon Frogmoth, Falcon Grey, etc are commonly spotted bird species in this Thattekkad wildlife sanctuary. This wildlife sanctuary is opened all the year round but the best time to visit the sanctuary is May and July.
